Herbst Metal Art is the brainchild of me - Tim Herbst.  I find myself continually, almost obsessively, designing and then building both functional art  as well as aesthetic pieces.   The process quite often keeps me up late at night as I will turn on the light, sometimes numerous times, to jot down a concept that I "must" get down before I forget about it.  Art, for me, is something that changes constantly.  One minute or day or week I think it's all about an aesthetic journey of color and texture applied to the medium of some sort of metal, while the next it becomes more about how a piece functions and the design of shape vs. strength and integrity.  This may take me from making a metal wall sculpture on Tuesday to designing a custom bar stool on Wednesday and then changing gears on Friday to come up with different ideas applied to standing necklace trees.

I have done many things in my life and have come full circle back to what I call "the creative side."  For me, it's sort of like the Luke Skywalker's eventual denial of the "Dark Side" in the Star Wars sagas.  I've walked in the corporate world and worked / schooled / lived many different places.  All this has led me to this ultimate ideal that "Being Creative is the Only Way for Me to Truly Express Myself and Be Comfortable in My Own Skin."  Even if people didn't buy my creations / expressions, I would still choose to spend my time in the "Creative Zone" over the alternative.
